 Post subject: large Hole in engine bay VG onwards

Hello, first post here. I have a question about a hole in the engine bay of my VG. It may also be in VH upwards (as the VG from the firewall forward was same as VH onwards I think. It is a large oval hole under the battery tray. The picture is from a VH I think but it is identical to mine
I'm wondering if it is for the wiring loom that goes to the fender mounted indicators? Because the way the loom is routed at the moment doesn't look right .

That hole lines up with the Hole in the battery-drip tray to allow to battery acid to drop-out into the wheel-well if the battery so wishes to have a Hemerage. ( boil-over from over-filling /over-charging ).

thank you for the reply. So it does, I see now. I missed seeing that clue, the hole is so small in the tray.
