So i just got a valiant cm regal hemi 265, it has the original elb system and carter 2bbl carter carb on it, but it is missing bits and pieces on the carb to make the choke work. (Its a bitch to start) i have tryed to understand the elb system but have just given up. Im looking at buying this ignition kit https://www.hemiperformance.com.au/shop/shop-by-category/ignition/ignition-conversion-kit/hemi-6/hemi-6-hpi-series-3-electronic-ignition-conversion-type-s-revision-2-customisable.html will i be able to use this with the elb carter carb? Or will i need to purchase a aftermarket carb? And exactly what do i need to remove to delete the elb system? Thanks in advance.i am new to cars and this is my first project ever! And the only car i intend on working on for good so it's important that I understand the ins and outs.

Hi Stubby.
As you might have already guessed, this website is another casualty of FB.
....
ELB if the ignition still works, ( car runs ) then its working.....
There are enduring issues with the elb if bits are missing, bent, or wiring issues, you will have them all.
Also the carby if still original, was calibrated to run lean, on leaded fuels.

I think if you are wanting to go original, it will cost patience time and money, ( ie, its more difficult)
If you want to be able to take most anywhere for tuning then go after market with ignition & carb.
The linked product above is probably a best first choice for elb system elimination, basic & simple, they are usually very light on fitting instructions so ask lots of questions before dropping the Cabbage..
also try joining FB pages, Queensland Chysler, vh-cm appreciation society, ETC.
but you might ask a simple question and get 1 good response out of 30 comments.... :D
