Hi All. I need some help with some info please. I have heard that the Bosch alternator on vals can be upgraded from 40 or 55 amps to around 80amps by using parts from a VN commodore alternator. Does anyone know whether this is correct and if so does anyone have a name of an auto electrician that might do that sort of work..Cheers

Are you talking about an Alternator for Hemi 6 or 318? if you have a GLX I guess its an internally regulated alternator? I used to have a guy that would build up an 85 amp unit for the older style external regulated setup using Falcon parts but he isn't working anymore, and any Auto Electricians that I have asked about doing them just aren't interested in old stuff. I reckon you are better off to get a commodore or similar cheap and easily found alternator and adapt the whole thing to your car.

I bought a bosch 120amp unit to fit to the 440 in my barracuda.
Not hard to adapt any alternator if you're a little bit handy.
