No public holiday anymore thanks to the idiotic government deciding that suddenly after all these years some of Qlds entrenched public holidays should be kicked around like footballs.

But not a bad idea, all the public hols were in first half of the year, labor day no big deal, just same day as NSW now.

It was a crap idea from our point of view as the Labour day holiday was helpful to the folks that come to this event. It suited us better to leave it where it had been for the past however many decades.
First the Bligh government punted the Queens birthday weekend to October, and left Labour day in May, then the Newman government decided that was no good, so bought the Queens birthday weekend back to June, and punted the labour day holiday to October. They shouldn't be messing with that stuff in the first place.

So how much has been organised? Do we have a band again? And is there camping for the friday night? Last year i was quite rushed getting there mid morning after 3 hours of driving then having to set up camp and get the car through scruteneering and what not.

The format we are working on is the same as last year. Sat morning show in the centre of town from 10-12 while the track is being prepared and the track crew are setting up, practice and qualifying will run all arvo again, 12-5pm with a break late arvo for the kids races, dinner cruise( still to be confirmed), live band Sat night , racing on Sunday from about 10, 3 rounds Chicago shootout style, finals, trophy presentations.
Its entirely up to you when you arrive but many people arrive friday, friday night or early Sat morning. The only way you're going to be rushed to get some qualifying runs in is if you don't get there til 3pm sat arvo, unpack the car,get scrutinnered and hit the track with only an hour to go, by which time you might only get 3 or 4 passes in.
Onsite supervised jumping castle will be there again for the kids.

Trying to get a good northern contingent there this year.
So far possible starters are:
Me with the Ram towing something else-haven't decided yet.
My brother Matt with his 438 stroker Plymouth Fury - plan on racing this year.
My brother Dave with his 273 S-series
My son Daniel in a 318 CLSE Regal
Karen with her tough 474 stroked 383 VF hardtop has gone 11.2
Tom in a V10 viper powered 34 Plymouth
Luke in a 318 VE
Ken in a 440 64 Phoenix
Noel with a 440Vg has gone 10.98
Shane in a 440 68Dart clone

We'll see how many we end up with.

Ken, keep in mind that the Nostalgia Drags are on at Willowbank the weekend after.

Heres a pic of the Charger. Or check the back page of Chrysler Action issue No.1 :)

Yeah still big block. But the 572 lunched itself so Dad has built a 500 with twin 4's. Hopefully it'll go mid-high 9's. In the picture I posted thats how we got it to launch all the time. Rather boring. Only fired the new engine last week and have tried some new things, hope to get some good runs in before we head down.

Plan on doing the double with Willowbank.
